I knew it would start raining like this - it always does. But the ground had been soft and dry enough to work for the past couple weeks and so during the sunny days the kids and I went ahead and planted radishes, beets, carrots, lettuce, spinach, green onions, chives, peas, sweet peas, poppies, candytuft and clarkia out in the garden. Now it's wet and cold, but there are little sprouts popping up from many of our 1 to 5 year old seed packs. I'm not sure if it's a benefit to plant them so early, or if the cold wet will stunt them or require us to re-plant. Either way it was a nice way to spend the sunny days.
At the shop - the beginnings of my perennial garden from last summer are making their debut. The lavender is getting green, the delphinium, and the phlox (which I'll have to move because of the deer) are poking through, and the mint is already happily growing of course, along with a few others that I don't yet remember what they were.
On another note, we have a bunch of new spring dresses coming in to the shop this week and a slight spring change in the hours.
Spring hours (effective through the first week of June):
Weds and Thurs: 12 - 4pm; Fri and Sat: 12 - 8pm
Closed Sun/Mon/Tues
