Planning out Gussy's birthday party for tomorrow - last minute I know!
I like these cakes:
I know peaches are out of season! I know I don't live somewhere gloriously warm where the seasons are all turned around and it's actually a sunny summer day. I'm pretty sure it would have to be berry cake instead - um, because berries are completely in season! ha
I'm also working on some little fabric clouds that he can hang in his room.
But what he really wants is this:
Still contemplating the idea as our house is becoming overrun with children and small furry creatures!
Listening to Christmas music (Frank, Dean, Bing, Doris, et al) and watching favorite Christmas films: Elf, Miracle on 34th Street and a new favorite since last year - Peter and the Wolf. The second two are streaming on Netflix.
There is a Santa, an elf, a reindeer and a deer girl in the works so far.
And baking sugar cookies.
And last night Madeline and I made Raspberry rose souffles - oh my god - so so amazing. We made them with two pints of fresh raspberries, which were pureed and put through a fine sieve to remove the seeds - the prettiest bright pink, no food coloring required.
But after making souffles (10 egg whites) we had a bunch of yolks leftover... So tonight M and I are making eggnog custards!
My home is unusually clean, it's warm, I just watched a romantic movie, we have blackberries, I have wine; I'm happy. I think I'll put on Secret of the Kells for the 100th time for my youngest and start sewing a new dress with the prettiest vintage fabric that I found at the thrift store last week.
Just messing around with a sketch for the Holly Faire next weekend, that I probably won't be using anywhere except right here - back to the drawing board I think.
Had a sweet morning with a fruitful trip to the post office, hot chocolate and chai, window shopping, a sled ride and a sweet boy. Moved on to a less than relaxing afternoon, to put it mildly, but am attempting to equilibrize and jump back into sewing and preparing for the bazaar!
Have to turn on Gigi's favorite movie now because she is, and I quote: "about to freak out!"
